Child Protection
We believe that every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and free from harm. Our safeguarding policies are designed to ensure the protection of all students. These procedures align with the guidelines outlined in the Children Act 2004 and Education Act 2002, and provide clear instructions on how we handle safeguarding matters.
Staff Training
All LBA staff are thoroughly trained and hold PVG (Disclosure) certificates, as well as up-to-date First Aid qualifications. Additionally, all staff undergo regular training in child protection, ensuring we provide the highest level of care and professionalism.
Coming to and from Classes
Parents or guardians are welcome to drop off their children no more than 5 minutes before the class starts. Students under the age of 12 must be collected promptly at the end of each class. If you anticipate being late, please inform us as soon as possible, and your child will be supervised by the teacher until your arrival.
Parents or guardians of children under 12 are responsible for ensuring their child is supervised before and after class. LBA does not accept responsibility for students before or after class hours.
During Class
To ensure a safe and comfortable learning environment, we ask that all students wear appropriate, non-restrictive clothing and footwear. The correct footwear for the specific dance style being taught must be worn to ensure proper technique and safety. We encourage all our students to wear the La Belle Performing Arts uniform so they can feel part of our amazing LBA family. Uniforms are available at Bliss Dancewear on St Johns Road, Corstorphine, or online through our partner, All Boogie.
For safety reasons, students are not permitted to eat during class. We encourage students to bring their own water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the session.
Additionally, to ensure the safety of all children in the class, we ask that no nuts be brought to class or consumed during class time.
In the event of a medical emergency, LBA staff will take reasonable steps to contact the emergency contact listed and will seek medical treatment if necessary. Parents/guardians give consent for emergency medical treatment if the child is unable to communicate.
First Aid
At least one member of staff with Emergency First Aid certification will be present at every class. We maintain a well-stocked and regularly replenished first aid kit. If your child has any medical conditions or allergies, please inform the teacher and ensure that this information is updated on the ClassForKids platform. All students participate at their own risk.
Fire Safety
Our studios are equipped with clearly marked fire exits, fire extinguishers, and fire blankets. Fire drills are conducted every six months to ensure that all staff and students are familiar with emergency procedures and know how to evacuate safely if necessary.
Liability and Injuries
At LBA, we take all reasonable precautions to ensure the safety and well-being of our students. However, as with any physical activity, participation in dance comes with some inherent risks, including but not limited to muscle strains, sprains, fractures, or other injuries.
LBA cannot be held responsible for any injuries sustained during class, performances, or external events. Our teachers will ensure safe practice throughout the course, but students are responsible for following instructions, respecting their limits, and participating safely.
By enrolling in LBA's classes, you acknowledge and accept the inherent risks associated with dance and agree that you are solely responsible for any injury or illness sustained during your participation. It is strongly recommended that all students have appropriate health insurance, and parents/guardians should provide relevant medical information to ensure that the teachers are aware of any conditions that may affect their participation.
In the event of an injury, our staff will take immediate action and, if necessary, contact emergency services. However, LBA is not responsible for the costs of medical treatment or recovery.
LBA will not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or incidental damages that may occur as a result of participation in our classes or events. This includes, but is not limited to, damages arising from class cancellations, changes in the class schedule, or any inconvenience resulting from the actions of other students or external factors.
By enrolling in our classes, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless LBA, its staff, contractors, and agents from any and all claims, damages, losses, or expenses, including legal fees, arising from your child’s participation in the program, including any injuries sustained by your child
Class Cancellations and Makeup Policy
While we strive to maintain a consistent schedule, there may be situations where classes are canceled due to unforeseen circumstances, such as teacher illness, adverse weather conditions, or other emergencies. In such cases, LBA will make every effort to reschedule the class or offer an alternative makeup session. Affected students will be notified promptly via email or through the ClassForKids platform.
Parents/guardians will have the option to:
Attend a makeup class, subject to availability, or
Join another class within the same age group, based on availability.
If a makeup session cannot be arranged, no refunds will be issued. However, parents/guardians may choose to transfer their child to another class of equal value within the same term.
LBA will not be held liable for any inconvenience caused by class cancellations, and we appreciate your understanding. While we will do our best to minimise disruption, LBA is not liable for any direct, indirect, or consequential damages arising from class cancellations, changes in the class schedule, or other factors outside our control.
LBA shall not be held responsible for failure to perform any obligation under these Terms and Conditions if such failure is caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, strikes, or government-imposed restrictions.
Payment and Fees
Payments are due on the 1st of each month, and a direct debit must be set up before your child’s first class. All payment details should be entered via the ClassForKids platform. Failure to pay by the due date may result in your child’s spot in the class being released.
If you need to cancel or withdraw your child from a class, we require at least one month’s notice in writing. All outstanding payments must be cleared before a withdrawal can be processed.
Missed classes remain payable, though makeup classes may be available where possible. If you wish to schedule a makeup session or transfer your child to a different class, please inform us as soon as possible so we can accommodate your request.
Media and Photography
From time to time, LBA may take photographs or video footage during classes, rehearsals, performances, or other events. These images and videos may be used for promotional purposes, including on our website, social media platforms, and in printed materials. By enrolling your child, you give consent for LBA to use these materials unless you explicitly opt-out via the ClassForKids platform.
Limitation on the Use of Personal Recording Devices
Personal recording devices are not permitted during class or performances to protect the intellectual property of the choreography and the safety of students. Only authorised personnel may record or photograph.
